The Waiting is Over...

Welcome friends, hope this Monday finds
you bright and cheery!

Weekends are just the best,
a time to relax and spend time with family,
get caught up on some much needed housework,
and plan for the new week ahead!

Do you remember me mentioning an auction I won
last week on Sunday, September 20th?

To my surprise it was already
tracking in Chicago on Thursday the 24th,
and left St. Paul, Minnesota yesterday!

Did I mention this package came all the way
from the United Kingdom.  I still can't believe
how quickly it arrived...only one week!

The waiting is over...

Hello, I hear you have lots of nuts here in America!

I'm so excited to add this handsome antique squirrel
pincushion to my ever growing animal collection!

The minute I saw him up for auction I knew it would be a
battle to bring him home to live here at Scattered Seed Samplers!

But, what good is money if you can't enjoy spending it
now and then!

I have just the perfect piece of vintage velvet to restore
his pincushion back to glory!

Looks like he's ready to go nut gathering...I'll have to
find or make the perfect nut for him to hold!

During this Autumn season I'll be sharing some of my
other Studio Squirrel friends.

It's easy for me to get distracted with other things,
such was the case in answering an email that
sent me searching for an item, and in the
process found a pile of charts that I'd
completely forgotten about!

My last available pattern of Near Halloween' by
the late Lisa Roswell of The Primitive Needle.

A close up of the verse.

Do you remember the wonderful patterns
by "Birds of a Feather"?

Oh, how I loved to stitch these incredible designs,
I even developed "Tennis Elbow" from stitching
non stop models for my former retail shop
Salem Stitchery!

"Lost spirits do not embody me on this
Night of All Hallows Eve"...2001

If you love Halloween and cats...this is a must have (2001).

"Fat Cat"...too many treats (2003).

"Beware of Cat"...2002.

"All Hallow's Night"...wow!

And 6 "Out of Print" Blackbird Designs charts...

Fond Hearts, Fair Daffodil, My Gift to You...from 2005.

Mildred's Garden House (2008), Easter Parade (2005),
My Missouri Home (2006).

ALL of these great charts will be listed
this Thursday evening as auctions in my
Ebay shop.

On Friday, I'll post the direct Ebay links for your
convenience.

Autumn Gatherings ~

Welcome friends to Scattered Seed Samplers.

I can now officially breath a sigh of relief, all
Little Sparrow Pinkeep Club kits, Etsy and Ebay orders
are shipped and on their way...yay!

Every year I get a craving for a good caramel apple,
how about you?

I'm having fun experimenting with some
 non traditional ideas...

This is a very tasty choice if you love pears like I do!

Makes the pears look so wonderful for this
Autumn harvest time of year!

Do you like your caramel apples plain...

Using hand picked twigs work great for a
more rustic looking handle!

Or, do you prefer your apple with nuts?

I must have nuts on mine!

Here are some great ideas to make eating a caramel
apple a little less messy...

Apple chunks dipped in caramel with a toothpick,
how easy is that!

Or...

Scoop out the core and fill with caramel,
let stand until firm, then cut into wedges!

So many possibilities...have fun being creative in your
kitchen!

Here are some recent farm field pictures...

We have lots of dried Queen Ann's lace all over the farm
and I love how it's surrounded by these sweet
little daisy like weeds.

Such simplistic beauty!

I love any kind of  Sunflower plant this time of year!

Look at these colorful beauties, especially
the ones that are already drying up near the top!

Yesterday, to my surprise there was an artist
all set up on the roadside painting our second cutting
of hay bales in our field...

I stopped to chat with her on my way back from the
post office...she even uses a neat looking chair!

I love surprises, look at what was gifted to me this
morning by my friend Ona...

She had stopped early and dropped off these wild
branches of Bittersweet she found growing
in the woods!

She said this wild variety has larger berries than
the "American Bittersweet" she has growing by her house.

There was a cluster of an old wasp nest laying in the bottom of
my wheel barrow...I added it to the branch for a
special touch!

Ona and I are planning a Bittersweet outing
next week, I can hardly wait!

Sheepish Countryside ~

Welcome friends...did you enjoy your weekend?

I sure enjoyed mine, best weekend I can remember
in a long time...everything just was perfect!

Sunday, was especially spectacular;
I was the winning bid on a very special auction,
I can hardly wait until it arrives from the
United Kingdom so I can share it with you!

My family and I enjoyed a gorgeous countryside drive,
and took lots of pictures.

Ending the day watching the Green Bay Packers play
Sunday night football against the Seattle Seahawks:

Final Score ~

Packers 27
 Seahawks 17

Getting back to that countryside drive,
luckily my husband and son don't mind when I
need to stop and get out to take pictures!

Sure hope you like sheep...

How can you resist a face like that!
Ears are pinned back...not to sure if she should be talking
to a roadside stranger like me!

She finally relaxed her ears and listened very
carefully to what I was saying!

Then to my surprise her friends heard me talking,
and came running to see what was going on...

What a perfect quaint country setting for a gorgeous
flock of sheep...love the piles of hay and old farm building!

Very curious indeed!

The leader of the flock is also a mama...look at that sweet
little face beside her!

My first friend is now joined by a gentle fellow
still chewing some hay!

I love this shot...what a perfect sheepish model!

These two black faced fellows were very cautious and the
last to check out what was going on!

It was finally time to say so long, fair well...until me
meet again!

Which one was your favorite?

Heading down the road we passed these fellows...

To busy eating to get their attention!

Last, we came upon this...

A countryside "Grotto".

I have a dear friend who
has Bittersweet...

I'm so excited about going Bittersweet gathering
with her!

Remember the giveaway drawing for the
 little pumpkin fellow...

I have an update...he is all settled in his new home living in
sunny California!

Julie, the winner of the little pumpkin fellow
 has a beautiful blog...

Autumn Goodness ~

Welcome friends, I can't believe it's Friday
already...I had to double check my
calendar to make sure!

I've totally lost track of time this week,
a symptom of being self~employed!

I'm really excited to share a very special photo with you today...

Isn't Patti's stitching and finishing just beautiful!

Patti made a few subtle changes to my original version which
was a pinkeep drum...

Patti stitched an extra little black squirrel
instead of including her initials...very sweet"

She stitched the center basket every other stitch
giving it an open weave effect, instead of
including the year...very nice!

Patti also has a beautiful blog ~

If you would like to purchase the pattern for
"Bittersweet Gatherings" pinkeep drum
it is available through my Etsy shop ~

I love it when my husband brings me flowers...

Not the expensive store bought kind...just the
homegrown kind!

Simple & humble...my favorite kind!

And speaking of "humble"

I would have to include the... "Humble Little Acorn"

I've checked my favorite Oak tree and YES acorns
are already falling to the ground!

For a relaxing break, this weekend I'm planning
a walk in the woods to gather Autumn Acorns, small
pine cones, dried Coneflower heads and anything
special that catches my eye!

 I can hardly believe how
Little Sparrow Pinkeep Club
has grown...we now have 101 members!

Mary A. from Iowa will be receiving a special
gift for being number 100!

I am truly humbled by everyone's support and the
amazing ladies and gents I've had the pleasure
of making friends with on this journey!

I sincerely THANK each and EVERYONE of YOU!

Here is an update for Little Sparrow's
kits that are scheduled to ship next Wednesday,
the first day of Autumn, September 23rd.

All the threads are cut and carded...

"Harvest Waiting's" palette of Autumn threads!

All week I've been cutting fabrics...20 yards total!

Wool for acorn caps, Dark Cobblestone Belfast linen for acorns,
Andover fabric designed by Jo Morton.

Just finished cutting the
Country French ~ Golden Needle linen
yesterday...

My assemble line is just about ready...print shop is next!

Everything is still on schedule...yippee!

The four out of print charts that I showed on Monday's
post were listed on Ebay last night as auctions,
with a starting bid of .99¢ each...

I now have the photos linked to the direct listing for your
convenience...just click onto the photo!

Best wishes on bidding, hope they all find good
new homes!

Hope you enjoy a happy and fun filled weekend!

My favorite Oak tree is calling my name...it will feel
good to get some fresh air and exercise!
